The doctor walked into the room and the first thing he said was “Wow, your hormones really shot up!” Ummm…way to freak me out before the ultrasound! But as soon as the images appeared on the screen he cleared things up and we all saw one healthy baby.

Heartbeat looked great and the placenta was perfect. I go back May 4 for another ultrasound and then I’m officially released from the fertility clinic and can go forward with a midwife. And I have no clue how to even get started with finding a midwife and if our insurance covers it. That’s a task for next week.

Last blood test was this past Monday and my levels were up to 26,000. My nurse said,”Well, you’re pregnant. Lets get you in here next week to see how many babies are in there!”

YIKES!

The “need to know every bit possible” part of me hit the web to see what all these hormone levels mean. According to this great site I found, http://www.betabase.info/index.php,  it looks promising that my numbers are more in the singleton range than multiples…although it’s in both…

So what’s new with the preggo bod? I’ve been a 34 B for years…for at least 10 years!  Those days are gone. I was spilling out of all my bras (hubby said it looked like muffin top). I hit Marshalls. I tried the 34C and the 36B. Both fit. I had more band give with the 36B so I got that one. $5. Here I am a week later and now I’m facing spillage again. How can they grow this fast?!?! I am terrified of the stories from two friends that started as B’s. One became an F and one an I!!!

Weight: the pizza and burger cravings have caught up. I’ve gained 3 lbs in 3 weeks. But in all honesty, I think a pound to possibly two is all in the boobage.

Holy Cow. I really still can’t believe it. The plus appeared instantly. I went to the RE for a blood test and everything looks great.

The sickness has also arrived. Eating for the next 2 months should be interesting.

Next steps: Another blood test on Monday to check levels again and then a blood test the following monday. Then an ultrasound at 7 weeks where we’ll finally know for sure if we’re working with 1 (Please let there only be 1 baby!) or more.

Hubby’s mom cried. We know it’s early and tons of things could happen, but our families know all the fertility treatments we’ve been doing so we had to tell them and our closest friends. I figure that if something does happen, I would need them for support anyway, right?

We also got news yesterday that some of very close friends are due in October! It’s going to be a baby boom!

Hubby said I had muffin top boobs last night at dinner. My boobs are now spilling out of the top of my bra.

I have a friend that has been having fun with infertility too and AF showed up yesterday–I was hoping this would be the month for both of us. She’s going to take a month off because they don’t want to have a Christmas baby.

Because I’m totally neurotic, I calculated our due date when we get a BFP tomorrow: December 7!

I’ve had tons of twinges in the uterus area in the last 2 weeks. Sometimes they are stabbing, take-your-breath-away pains. They only last for a split second.

My boobs are large and heavy. But that could be those vag pills aka progesterone.

When (not if) the test shows two lines on Friday, I go in for a blood test to check hormone levels. Then a test 2-3 days later and then again a few days after that. That will show if there’s 1 baby or more.

The Prometrium is oh so lovely again. Yucko. But it’s better than the progesterone shots I’ve heard some women have to take.

Today: tired (could be from waking up an hour early to take the do to the vet), HUGE boobs, twinges in the ovary/uterus area–could be the burgers from dinner last night.

Everything went smoothly this time-no cramping or discomfort.

My CM was out of control this month–holy cow-you would think my junk had an allergy attack! But eh, that’s a good thing, right?

I start the prometrium, now known as the vag pills, tomorrow night. Then I have to wait 2 weeks from tomorrow to test.

This is the month! Our due date will be December 7!

Went in today to have another look and a blood test to make sure I wasn’t ovulating on my own.  Had one excellent follicle at 21 and another that was a 13 on the left and then another 13 on the right.  I’m hoping the 13′s will catch up and grow in the next couple days.  I’m triggering tonight –at 1:30am -ugh!  And then Hubby goes in Tuesday at 11:30 to make his donation and I’m in at 12:30 for the insemination.

This was been a terrible month for us.  I was laid off and then last week we found out our middle-aged dog has bone cancer.  I hope the stress of all of this doesn’t act negatively on making babies.  But we sure could use some good news with all this bad!  Plus, I don’t know that we will do another cycle right away if we need to spend money on the dog’s treatments and here I am not working!

I called the nurse today. She said to expect my period today or tomorrow. Then I’ll need to have the 3rd day clearing ultrasound and I’ll start the Femara again. What fun…(sigh)

We’re also going to start educating ourselves about adoption while we continue with this mess. We both know we don’t want just one child but I don’t think I could go through this emotional roller coaster again.

I know I may be talking like I’m defeated and that this was only our first IUI. But the hoping each month hurts so bad when there is nothing but another round of drugs to look forward to. And more friends that are pregnant. And more baby showers we’re invited to.

One thing we decided is we’re going to plan our vacation. We haven’t been on one in so long because we’ve been wrapped up in all this “need to be close to the fertility clinic” crap. So if we have to, we’ll take that month off. Hubby and I need some do-nothing time. A whole week of naps, reading, naps, walks on the beach and more doing nothing. Maybe we’ll snorkel or sail some too…after a nap.
